We set high goals throughout the Club in 2007, and achieved most of them. Congratulations to the 1st and 4th teams which both achieved promotion, and to all the Colts teams which represented the Club so well. A special mention for Ryan Beck, and Simon Mills the successful captains, and to Nick Gossip, Steve Taylor, and Steve Watts who managed the Colts so effectively.

In 2008 the club introduces another new age group, at U-9 level, thanks to Paul Findlay. We stepped up a level in all our playing activities, but the success we enjoyed will now give rise to new challenges. The 1st team will be playing in a significantly stronger league in which there will be no easy games. We have some very talented players, but a consistently high level of performance and a more dedicated approach to practice and training by all squad members will be needed to keep us moving forward.

For some years the 3rd and 4th teams have been of similar standard, but the Club now has enough young players with the ability to push the 3rd team up the pyramid. There is too big a gap between New Forest Regional cricket in which the 3rd and 4th teams participate and Hampshire Division 2 in which the 2nd team plays. We need to close it, and the Committee is instituting a new selection policy to pursue this aim.

We will again be hosting County youth fixtures, plus three HCB Festivals, and the annual visit from our friends from Natal. A varied and attractive programme of cricket for our members. All we need is lots of sunshine! Whether playing, officiating, supporting, tea making, or helping with Club management seeking out local sponsors, have a good season.

John Wolfe, Chairman.
